Milanesi Visits Henry After 50 World War II Raids

Sergeant Nino Milanesi, brother of Nello of Henry, returns to Henry area after completing 50 raids as a radio operator aboard a bomber. He arrived in Spring Valley on March 20 and was reported to have sustained wounds in December in Italy but returned to active duty and additional raids, totaling 50 missions.

Red Cross Theatre Collection Reaches 127.78

Henry Theatre collection for the Red Cross over the past week totaled 127.78 dollars. Election set for Varna Township High School district

An election will be held Saturday April 8 in the Varna Township High School district Far Croft is a candidate for reelection as president of the district for a one year term. Ca Johnson and Carl Schoepke seek three year terms on the board of education. Johnson has served 15 years on the board. Schoepke is a new candidate replacing Ernest Lenz who retires after years. Mrs. Sorene Carlson is secretary. Also included is a recipe note about toasting stale bread with butter and a slow oven bake.

Peoria Firm Supplying Stall Gates for Fairs

Orrin Turner of Henry Farm Supply Co. closed a 300 gate order with Peoria Horse Show Co for stall partitions at the Peoria show grounds. Henry Farm Supply also books gates for Marshall Putnam Fair at Henry and Bureau County Fair at Princeton. Ankabarm Farms owner H J Schmaeger helped inspect the Henry factory and place the order. Fairs previously rented lumber now buy partitions to keep and may share them among the three events.

Death notices: William F. Wolf of McNabb funeral held

Funeral services were held Tuesday for William F. Wolf of McNabb who died Saturday after a ten day illness at St. Francis Hospital Peoria from coronary heart disease. Burial was at St. Marys Cemetery Mt Palatine. Survivors include wife Bertha Bogner and three children Catherine Wilbur and Gertrude. He was a Mt Palatine church and cemetery trustee.
