Mrs Alm Marghrel Johnson age 61 of LaPrairie died at 9 10 Sunday March 18 at Proctor Hospital Peoria. Funeral 2 00 p m Wednesday March 22 with Rev Brunside officiating. Interment Chillicothe Cemetery. Born near Eureka March 27 1888 she was daughter of Harm and Tena Seggerman and married George A Johnson February 6 1902. Survived by husband and three sons Albert Creve Coeur Harm Chillicothe John Speer. six grandchildren two brothers two sisters three half brothers two half sisters. Richard Martin sang two songs and Estella Manock was accompanist. Pallbearers listed.

Sparland soldier Ernest Russell of Route 2 Sparland was awarded the Oak Leaf Cluster to the Bronze Star by Major General Louis A Craig for meritorious service with the 60th Infantry Regiment of the Ninth Infantry Division in Europe. He served in Sicily and Italy, landed after D-Day, and fought through France Belgium and into Germany, earning praise for courage under fire and gathering vital enemy information.
