Funeral services for James Abbott in Illinois
James Abbott 68 passed away yesterday afternoon at 2 30 in Homeville Illinois after a brief illness. The funeral will be held Tuesday evening at Home with friends and relatives paying respects prior to services Wednesday. Abbott was born September 21 1877 in Chand and lived in the Peoria area most of his life. Survived by his wife Edson two sons Norman Pekin and J H Abbott of Chicago and a number of grandchildren and a great grandchild. The family home and neighbors in Illinois and Indiana are noted in the obituary. The Abbott family held services and funeral arrangements are shared with relatives in Henry County and nearby towns.

Camp Grove Farmer Relies on Horses for Power
Henry Geitner of a 100 acre farm near Camp Grove belongs to the small group of Marshall and Putnam County farmers who still use horses for power. He owns five horses and will not replace them with a tractor. This winter he bought a fine horse team for 100 dollars and paid seven dollars for harness and gear. He notes that 107 dollars buys much less with a tractor for oil and repairs, and tractors don’t work the land or plow as effectively as horses, as he can plant 15 acres of corn a day with his team.
