Ida Isabelle Potter Wiggins obituary in Chicago services
Ida Isabelle Potter Wiggins, born September 16 1868 in Henry Illinois, died in Chicago on March 15. She married Eugene Lane in 1887 and had three daughters Louise Rickard Margaret E Taylor and Helen Murray. She later married Frederick Wiggins who died in 1925. Interment was at Mt Hope Cemetery with Eastern Star rites. Survivors include daughters sisters brothers and several Potter relatives.

Rubber Check Artist Targets Henry Merchants
A smooth stranger, 35 to 38, light complexion and overcoat, used forged checks made out to H. Bauer claiming payment for work by John Burton. He bought $1 items, got change in good currency, then left town. The frauds appeared Monday, prompting county officials to investigate. Fowler Given 35 Year Term For Wife Murder
In Ottawa circuit court Judge Joe A Davis sentenced James B. Fowler 50 formerly of Henry and DePue later Ottawa to 35 years in Joliet penitentiary for murdering his wife Marie Fowler on November 2 1930. Fowler wept as did his relatives and courtroom officials. Prosecutor Russell O. Hanson and defense attorneys William Scott Stewart and George S Wiley appeared. State's Attorney Hanson prosecuted.

Elmwood Editor H A Bates Dies After Long News Career
H A Bates a Chillicothe Elmwood editor and publisher for nearly forty years died at his Elmwood home from a sudden heart attack. He edited the Chillicothe Enquirer starting in 1892, later ran a Coldwater weekly, returned to Chillicothe, then moved to Elmwood to publish the Gazette which merged with the Yates City Banner. Funeral services were held in Elmwood and he was buried in Marion Ohio.

Fire damages Ed Prather home slight blaze
About 1 45 Friday afternoon the Edward Prather residence in the east part of town suffered a small fire that started in a bee hive on the side of the house and spread to the cornice. Firefighters confined the damage to scorch marks on the siding, a broken window and blistered paint. The resident Prather noticed flames after hearing a crack in a bedroom window and alerted authorities. A chemical tank and a hydrant in the basement helped subdue the blaze. the interior was spared. Estimated loss about 100 dollars, insured.
