The cast includes Prudence Mason guest star Marsha Williams and a mix of academy students in a drama setting with director Mr Bach played by Bob Newton and other campus characters driving witty theatrical conflict.
Ned Ransom son of Mr and Mrs Ed Ransom who was seriously injured in an automobile accident last Sunday has improved enough to undergo major surgery today. He is a patient at Mennonite hospital in Bloomington with his mother staying nearby and his father and aunt Miss Margaret Tomilson RN present much of the time.
While Bertuli works in the county clerk’s office, Mrs. George Donaldson of Granville, a former part time courthouse employee, is noted in connection with the local clerical scene.
Henry Legion hall hosts annual athletic banquet on Tuesday evening April 19. Guest speaker Dave Downey, former University of Illinois All American and Canton high school standout, will headline the event. Downey held the Illini season scoring record and single game mark, now works in Champaign, does Illini telecasts, and scouts for Coach Harry Combes.
Bob Brutlag will leave the Henry Heinold Market and relocate to Kouts Indiana to join Harold Heinold in sales and management of the large hog buying firm. Kenneth Maxwell, a Normal Illinois native and Illinois State University graduate, will take over Henry Market duties. The Heinold chain operates 26 buying centers across Iowa Illinois Indiana and Ohio and continues plans to add Ohio markets.
Anton Zanagila, 48, of rural Hennepin, was seriously injured late Monday when pinned between a truck and a wagon loaded with corn at the Illinois Grain Co. elevator on the river front. He was taken by ambulance to St. Margaret's hospital, Spring Valley, with both legs severely injured. His condition was listed as satisfactory yesterday.
Dr A A Salas announces plans to depart Henry at the end of April and join Dr M E Mulet in Arlington Heights to practice medicine. He and his wife Edith have three daughters and joined Henry nine years ago in July 1957 after training in Cuba and Illinois.
J Robert Loomis 45 of 109 Terrace Ct Peoria owner manager of Peoria County Gravel Co died on arrival at Proctor Hospital at 1 30 AM Monday He had lived in Peoria since 1942 and was born Jan 22 1921 in Henry He is survived by his wife Ellen Marie Barry three daughters Linda Patricia and Mary Ellen a grandson his father of Henry a sister Doris Waughop and five nieces Funeral services were held at Clugston Memorial Home and St Thomas Church Peoria with burial in St Patrick Cemetery Henry.
Arthur Engelbrecht of Henry verbally accepted a contract to become the vocational agriculture instructor at Sparland High School after the Sparland Community Unit District board meeting. About 25 parents attended with John W. Watkins acting as spokesman. The meeting also discussed next steps for forming a parent teacher organization.
Dr Hansjorg Hug a Northwestern University Rotary Fellow from Innsbruck Austria spoke to about 100 guests at a combined Marshall county Rotary gathering in the Lacon Methodist church Tuesday evening. He outlined Austrian government affairs and his plans to study political science and international law to prepare for a future in Austrian politics.
Governor Otto Kerner Jr. met with Commerce Department officials in Washington to discuss the proposed Interstate Route 55 linking LaSalle with Peoria and joining Route 66 near Lincoln. The route would affect Putnam and Marshall counties and influence the site of Putnam county’s new unit district high school near Centerville grade school.
About 50 people attended the Henry Methodist church gathering Monday evening to discuss industrial development in the area and the church role. Dr. Dale Pitcher and staff outlined help from the Methodist offices in education missions evangelism youth work and social concerns as churches face new building needs resource use and community outreach. Representatives from Magnolia McNabb Lacon Sparland Henry Saratoga Hennepin Tiskilwa Tolono joined, with plans to coordinate with Illinois Council of Churches and other groups.
Mrs. Garnet Wright dined with Mrs. Val Wenk Mrs. Grace Carroll and Mrs. Delmas Pettett of Lacon at the La Con Club Friday evening. They then watched the Lacon Junior Woman's Club style show at Mid County Junior High auditorium.
Quad County Education Corp formed to run a federally funded anti poverty program meets in Princeton with two committees the program chaired by Rev Wilbert Marzahn and the personnel chaired by Oliver Wilson. Members from Bureau Marshall Putnam and Stark counties discussed incorporation papers By laws and funding allocations with the four counties expected to receive 75 000 20 000 11 000 and 16 000 respectively and local in kind contributions to meet a 10 percent share.
Mrs M DeVeer Tutt of Pontiac formerly of Henry died early Tuesday morning at St Marys Hospital, With services planned in Pontiac and Galesburg. She was born August 20, 1926 in Galesburg and married M D Tutt in 1946. survivors include two children Linda and Michael, her parents, a sister and several nieces and nephews. Burial will be in Galesburg after funeral services in Pontiac and Galesburg.
