Missing Magnolia youth found in creek
The body of Leonard Nelson, 19, missing since Sunday night, was found Monday afternoon in a creek near the intersection of routes 89 and 890 north of Magnolia. An open verdict of death by drowning was returned after an inquest, with testimony linking his last steps to a walk from a car after a dance.

Umbarger Rites Held For Lostant Resident At 83
William H. Umbarger 83, retired farmer, died Friday at his Lostant home after illness. Born February 10, 1850 in Florida, he lived in Putnam and La Salle counties his life. He married Jane Curtis in 1870. two children Lena Bray and Edward (died 1916) survived, plus two grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was a Modern Woodmen member. Funeral was held Sunday at 2 p m from the family home with services at Lostant Methodist Church. burial in Hope Cemetery.
