John Fraley 71 Dies at Home After Long Illness
John Fraley aged 71 died Saturday evening at his home after a prolonged illness. Born January 1, 1859 in Virginia he later moved to Illinois. He left Texas after a year then settled in Illinois where he lived most of his life. Survived by wife Alice Applegate and stepson Louis Applegate, funeral services were held Tuesday at A. B. Isaac Boyle of Hennepin Dies at 73
Isaac O Q Boyle of Hennepin died Thursday March 13 after a long illness with cancer at Spring Valley hospital. Funeral services were held Saturday at First Congregational church in Granville with Rev. A J Pitman and Rev. N C Wallin officiating. Burial followed in Granville cemetery. He was born on a farm in Hennepin Prairie and lived most of his life on the old homestead, except for years in California. He is survived by his wife, two sons, six daughters, and many grandchildren. He is a brother of Sandy Boyle of Hennepin.

Soil testing drives in Marshall Putnam Farm Bureau region
More than 2000 acres of soil were tested in a series of soil testing schools conducted by the Marshall Putnam Farm Bureau. Each 40 acre field yielded 23 surface samples, five sub-surface samples, and five sub-soil samples, totaling 83 per field. The tests checked acidity and available phosphate, using a new University of Illinois method. The effort shows a link between acidity and low phosphate levels, with eight meetings held and more planned as time allows.
