Boy Struck in Head with Axe During Play
Marnin Abbott, son of Mr and Mrs J W Abbott, was struck in the back of the head by an axe during a garage play session with several boys. Clarence Brown wrested the weapon after an argument, injuring Norman Abbott. The head was clamped and stitched. he is recovering and expected to return to school.

Broken rib bandages a La Rose playday
Sunday at the Carter home in La Rose four boys played while Frederick Zilm was struck in the side by a small board. He reported hurt, a bruise appeared, and on Monday he was taken to Dr Hillmer where one lower rib on the left side was found broken. The fracture is not serious and should mend soon.

Former Henry Man Dies at Home in Peoria
John Peterson for 69 years a resident of Peoria died suddenly at his home on Monday evening March 10. He suffered a heart attack and passed away before 5 o clock. Born in Belleville Illinois he moved to Peoria and married Mary Hauser. A Varna country home owned by Mr and Mrs Sam Myers burned slightly on Wednesday afternoon when a chimney started the blaze. Town help arrived only after the fire was extinguished, with limited damage to the outside and a hole burned into the structure.

An attempted burglary occurred Friday night with break ins at Spencer's store Sivell's pool room and the Magnolia bank. Cigars and cigarettes were taken at the pool room only. Blood hounds pursued clues Saturday tracing along the railroad and into the countryside with no definite leads.
