Three School Boards Agree On DST Time Alignment

Three school districts Henry Senachwine and Putnam will synchronize schedules for Daylight Saving and Central Standard times. Starting April 28 buses will run on DST in spring and revert to CST in fall to coordinate a shared Henry Senachwine high school route and the Putnam grade school transfer plan. The arrangement, used for years, saves money for the two boards heading toward a consistent statewide practice.

Stella Motter Wabel Rites Held at Henry

Funeral services for Stella Motter Wabel, 90, were held at Green funeral home with Rev. John Howard officiating. Interment followed at Henry City cemetery. Survivors include nieces Edna Motter and Arnold Hoerr, a nephew Walter Motter, and several Wabel relatives.

Former Henry Resident Clarence Poling Dies in Peoria

Clarence Poling of Peoria Heights, a former Henry resident, died Friday morning March 14 at Methodist hospital Peoria. Funeral services were held Monday at Wilton mortuary Peoria officiated by Capt David Levert Salvation Army with burial in Heart City cemetery. Sedwin Barry chaplain and Henry Post American Legion conducted graveside rites. Color guards and firing squad members named. Poling and wife Lila Bell had previously lived in Henry before moving to Peoria.

Carr Bros Hold Hampshire Sale April 2 at McNabb

Carr Bros. of McNabb announces a public auction of 165 Hampshire hogs on Wednesday April 2 starting at 7 p.m. at their farm five miles west of McNabb. In Marshall county circuit court Judge Henry Ingram ruled the Sparland school board owed no salary to Del Glover, former Sparland high coach and teacher dismissed in mid 1950-51, who sought $2,000 for the remainder of the term.

Fred P Ely Injured In Route 29 Accident

Fred P Ely of south of Henry on Route 29 was fatally injured? No, painfully injured Saturday noon when struck by a car while carrying a plank he had moved from the road. The driver William Mates of Galesburg brought him to Dr Dysart and he was later taken to St Margaret's Hospital Spring Valley with a fractured right leg and multiple cuts and bruises.

Lifelong Whitefield resident Joseph Harris dies at 69

Joseph William Harris born Milo Illinois September 2 1882 died March 10 1952 at St Margaret s hospital Spring Valley aged 69 years 6 months 8 days. He was the eldest of 11 children and leaves brothers Hulbert George Willis Clyde with sisters Julia Roy Walter and others. He worked with his father in machinery then ran a blacksmith and garage at Whitefield Corners with his brother Rey. Bloodmobile comes to Henry this Friday for drive

The Red Cross bloodmobile will visit Henry this Friday March 21 from 10 30 to in the Marshall Putnam Farm community room. Volunteers are needed to meet the quota and walk in donors are welcome. Henry residents have used more blood at area hospitals than any other Marshall county community prompting strong support.

Sunday Morning Fire Destroys Stoner Family Trailer

A trailer home at 608 Thomas Street owned by Mrs Mildred Stoner of Henry burned last Sunday around 11 35 am. Neighbors alerted authorities and all family members were away at the time. The trailer interior was badly damaged though much contents were a total loss. insurance covered a good portion of possessions. The Stoners have relocated to the Bernard Bergantz home in Henry. Marshal Stoner nicknamed Stokey starred for the Henry Mallards last season and Bob Stoner played for the Henry grade school heavyweight team.

St Pauls Varna Church backs $10 million mission drive
