Marshall Putnam fair to acquire El Paso amphitheatre and horse barn
The Marshall Putnam county fair officials plan to move into larger show space by securing an amphitheatre and a horse barn from the defunct El Paso fair. A January meeting led to a March 15 trip where local leaders struck a deal for both buildings for 500 dollars, far below the amphitheatre’s original asking price. The amphitheatre measures 36 by 240 feet with a built in bandstand and long aisles, while the barn can house 25 horses with ample stalls. The two structures will be dismantled and moved to the fair grounds for re erection.

O G Vale Dies in Oglesby After Heart Attack at 71
O G Vale, longtime Henry resident and depot agent, died after a heart attack in Oglesby. The body, transported for burial beside his son Leland in Henry cemetery, followed a brief service attended by many locals. He is survived by his widow and son Virgi Vale of Oak Park. son Leland predeceased him.

While felling a tree at the old County Farm John Cofoid and son Jack were struck by a broken limb under the jaw. The tongue was severed near the base and left hanging. Jack wandered home unaware of the injury. The father regained consciousness and notified a physician in Granville who sewed the tongue back in place. The doctor believes recovery is likely barring complications.
