About 68 Rotarians their Rotary Anns and guests gathered at the Henry Hotel to celebrate the 23rd anniversary. Ray Hunt presented a Peoria Corn Stock Theatre group with songs and dances causing much laughter. Boose recounted the club’s 1948 beginnings and listed the original charter members and officers.

New 10 by 20 Foot Henry Depot Arrives For Replacement
Rock Island Railroad unveils a 10 ft by 20 ft prefab depot to replace the dilapidated Henry structure. James Pate notes footings and electrical work are needed before installation, with completion expected in early April. Mayor Warner and council have long pressed the project.

Robbers tied up Harry Semon his wife their daughter Eunice and a neighbor Carl Schiffbauer at a farm home southeast of Tonica. They ransacked the house spraying eyes with gas and fled in a 1964 Dodge sedan later found abandoned between McNabb and Hennepin. Five Hurt In Accident Near Henry
Five people were injured in a two car crash one mile north of Henry at 4 10 p m Sunday. Allan A Barger 25 Spring Valley Richard Gimbal 30 and Raymond Azarskis 40 Granville James E Hofer 16 rural Putnam plus Valerie Williams 16 Henry sustained facial cuts. Hofer’s northbound car failed to stop at a stop sign colliding with Barger's westbound vehicle at Goodrich and Richards Roads.

Car Truck Crash Blocks Route 29 Near Henry
A Sunday night collision on Route 29 three miles south of Henry involved a hog hauler semi and a car driven by Percy Lutes. The semi stalled after the crash and traffic was halted about 15 minutes. Richard Amons of Hooppole drove the car into a ditch. neither driver needed hospital care. Lutes was ticketed for failure to yield at the intersection by Marshall County authorities.

Bradford Couple Hurt In Car Train Crash
Mr and Mrs LeRoy Lunsford sustained minor injuries when their 1962 Cadillac struck a Northwestern freight train at a crossing on the west end of Western Avenue blacktop around 2 am Saturday. Mr Lunsford had cuts and bruises while his wife suffered head injuries bruises and whiplash. The Marshall County Sheriff investigated the accident.

Randall family of Sparland lost their mobile home and belongings in a late Thursday blaze. Royal Randall, Patsy, and four children Debra 13 Troy 12 Carol 8 Kenny 7 escaped, salvaging only clothing. about 400 dollars in gas receipts also burned. Firefighters arrived to a fully involved trailer, possible furnace origin near the bathroom. Kindergarten to Attend Henry Grade School Board Meeting
The Henry Grade School Board reconvened March 15 1971 and approved Putnam kindergarten children attending Henry Grade School for 1971 72 on a per capita cost basis with Putnam supplying transportation. An International school bus chassis from Read Brothers of Henry Ill costing 576460 and a bus body from Truck Equipment Company of Peoria costing 195000 were purchased. The meeting adjourned at 4 30 pm.

Dori Ann Dawson seventh grader daughter of Mr and Mrs Charles F Dawson won the Henry Grade School spelling contest defeating eighth grader Debbie Reichen.
