In Sparland an 86 year old man, Ty Van Antwerp, aided by his bloodhound, repelled a late night holdup. One bandit was wounded, dragged to a car by accomplices, and escaped as deputies pursued. Van Antwerp kept his guard up and questioned robbers' motive, while the dog’s bark aided the alarm.

Fire damages roof at Mrs. Heininger home
The Henry Fire company responded to a Saturday morning call at the Mrs. Mary Heininger residence where a small blaze was found on the roof. A spark set the shingles on fire but was quickly extinguished, leaving only a small hole in the roof.
