Harold Griswold, lifelong Milo Township native and Princeton High School alumnus, died Saturday in New York City at age 60. He rose from Western Electric apprentice to vice president and director of ITT, led telephone services in the American Expeditionary Force, and was honored for Meritorious service by General Pershing. His funeral was held in Princeton with burial in Oaklands Cemetery.
The Henry High School senior class presents Smilin' Through on March 28 and 29 at 8 p.m. in the Henry gym. The play tells of a rejected suitor who kills the bride on her wedding night and how, fifty years later, the spirit of the slain girl helps the younger generation find love. Twenty two members of the Band Parents organization met in the Henry High School assembly room Monday night to finalize plans for tonight’s band concert in the gym. Proceeds fund a permanent band banner and future events. Transportation plans for soloists and a 70 piece band to Clinton contests were discussed. A letter from New York World’s Fair officials invited the Henry Band to perform next summer, though local funds may limit attendance. Further discussion on retaining Mr and Mrs Blocher will occur at the April meeting.
The Christopher Lobingier Chapter D A R held its March gathering at the Peoples Gate for dessert, then at Mrs. George A. Burt’s home for a bridge session. Prizes went to Mrs. Dewey, Mrs. Knight, and Miss Darrah. guests included Mrs. Bennness, Mrs. Bourdette, and Mrs. Knight. next meeting planned at Mrs. Coggeshall’s home.

Announcement Tuesday states Clem Ransom won the contract to haul mails between Rock Island depot and Henry post office. He starts April 1 replacing Walter Wood, with son Thomas Ransom as substitute. Nine bids were submitted.
