Consolidation moves forward in Senachwine Henry districts
Voters in Senachwine and Henry districts approved the merger plan though with uneven support as March 22 election looms. The combined district, named District No 20, will cover parts of Senachwine Townships and Henry area with about 2.5 million dollar valuation and multiple bus routes. Candidates from both sides contend for a seven member board to be elected, with terms set by lot. Polling places will be available in Henry and Putnam.

Stormy Turpen Injured In Putnam Car Crash March 8
On March 8 a 1937 Chrysler driven by Stormy Turpen swerved on Route B in Putnam, crashed into an elm by a Texaco station. Occupants were Russell Bishop and his 12 year old son Henry of Bureau, Howard Johnson of Bureau, all hospitalized at St. Margaret's Spring Valley. Stormy and Russell Bishop seriously injured. Turpen remains hospitalized. The others sustained minor injuries. Ambulance delay occurred due to a wiring issue.

Telephone service in the Henry area is nearly restored after the January 29 storm. All Henry lines are functioning, though some repairs took up to 26 days. Nearby towns such as Camp Grove Bradford Edelstein and Speer can be reached via Peoria, but many lines still have dead phones. Edelstein subscribers expect prolonged downtime with many Commercial Telephone Company customers affected. Dial phones modernization is underway with repairs from the ground up. East of the river exchanges report most subscribers back. Granville about 80 percent reconnected. Cedar Point hit hardest with around 10 percent in service.
