River dredging work to start by Grant Construction
Dredging over a million yards of mud and rock from the Illinois river bed will begin soon. Grant Construction of Cincinnati will excavate and widen sections at Wesley bend Havana lake and between Spring Lake and Peru. The Minneapolis Dredging company won the bid to remove 1 145 000 cubic yards and will work between Pearl and La Salle, with the start anticipated April 1 and a seven month completion.

Charles E Harris of Whitefield township died at Henry hospital on Friday March 3 after a short illness. He was born September 12 1873 in Whitefield and educated in Henry High School class of 1892. He is survived by two brothers and two sisters. Funeral services were at the Methodist Episcopal church in Henry conducted by Rev J A Johnson with interment in Whitefield Center cemetery.

Hotel Heniry cambia as new manager Mrs J Henry Smith takes over
Hotel Heniry operates under new management this week after a Tuesday afternoon change. Mrs J Henry Smith of Bradford assumed control as manager. An auction of hotel and Coffee shop furnishings drew no bids, with the mortgage holder Hiram E Todd bidding in for the lot. No bids were made on the Coffee shop items, and the sale was described as a legal formality to divest Earl E Anderson. Smith then took title to both sets of fixtures. Anderson had run the property for many years and did not speak about future plans. Smith has long operated hotel and boarding houses in Bradford and is noted for success.

Elizabeth Esther Briner Stockdell born November 9, 1886 near Tampico Indiana. She married Cyrus D Stockdell January 2 1887 and had nine children. She died February 27 1933 after heart trouble leaving husband two daughters three sons and 13 grandchildren. Funeral services were held in Florid Thursday.

Wyoming Woman Drowns Self in Spoon River
Ann Nichols an 85 year old Wyoming tele phone operator died Friday morning by drowning in Spoon River. She had been ill for a week and unable to work. A searching party found her body around 7:30 a.m. near the river bank. She is survived by a brother J T Nichols of Kewanee and two sisters Mrs Osburn and Mrs James Bar.

Fire destroys Moonlite Gardens dance pavilion at Rome
Moonlite Gardens dance pavilion on Route 29 in Rome was completely ruined by a fire about 2 30 Monday. Chillicothe Fire department rushed to the scene but the blaze was already out of control. The building, once Farrells pavilion, was owned by a Peoria showmen group at the time of the fire and is suspected incendiary origin. A similar fire occurred at the same site years ago.

Three Youths Arrested at Lehigh Gravel Pit Hennepin
