A report details a Klan visit to Putnam Monday night with 16 to 60 members arriving in up to 18 cars. They left $25 and groceries at Mrs. Isaac Pyle's home and then departed. Mrs. Pyle and her daughter are ill, making the donations timely.
The stork visited Henry Hospital on Saturday February 24 and left a baby girl for Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Rinehart of Putnam. Mrs. Rinehart was formerly Marion Wabel.
Henry Lodge 489 K of P held a Monday night gathering with good attendance and visitors from Chillicothe Peoria and Lacon. The Senate report was discussed at Castle Hall and upcoming work at the Bank of Knight with luncheon was announced. Brothers Condit and Cook described their Toledo Ohio visit.
The Senachwine Go-Getters Club in Putnam held its first monthly meeting on Monday evening. Eitzah Calvin Schlosser was elected president with Childs as vice president and Chesney as secretary. Other members include Daniels Childs Wheeler Wheelser, Schios Messorie Scaggs and Fin. A. L. Stickel of Putnam leads the club for Senachwine township and welcomes new membership applications.
It is expected that Addie Brown will become the next postmaster of Henry to succeed Jack Paskell who has held the office for eight years. Papers and bond for Mr Brown have been sent to the Post Office Department in Washington, but no final confirmation has been received.
Joseph Daly, second son of Mr and Mrs Robert Daly of La Rose, was thrown from a pony last Wednesday evening in the barn yard. He sustained a broken arm and was taken Thursday to Streator hospital where x rays confirmed the break. He is now at home recovering rapidly.
Funeral services for Miss Minnie Pringle were held at La Prairie U P church. She was born in 1873 in La Prairie and lived in La Prairie, Sparland, and Peoria before her death from heart trouble on February 27. Survived by siblings Isabelle Bradford Margaret Specht Janet Kinsey and Robert Pringle. Interment in La Prairie U P cemetery.
Mr and Mrs John Kottman of Chicago welcome their second daughter born last Friday at their Chicago home. The family, including Corrine the newborn, has visited friends at the William Peterman home after a hunting accident two years ago left the husband with a notable past.
Wm Kolb of La Rose was unloading heavy pipe near the Santa Fe depot when a section slipped and fell on his foot. The impact broke the ankle bone and he was rushed to Streator hospital for treatment. Doctors expect a recovery sufficient to return home later in the week.
Henry High School basketball traveled to Ottawa and lost to Toluca 41 to 28. Henry led 13 to 9 after the first quarter and 16 to 9 at halftime, but Toluca dominated the second half to win by 13 points. In a separate game Toluca was soundly defeated by Streator 82 to 22.
Henrietta DeWalt Rickey aged 52 died near Sparland Illinois on March 2 1926 after a year of illness pneumonia brought death. She married Robert Rickey in 1893 and cared for his children and later nine more in their home. Funeral held at Sparland M E church with Rev A E Joder. Burial in Sparland cemetery.
The Varna M E church receives the farm and personal property in trust with exceptions of 2500 to Miss Lizzie Wasmer and 2500 to Rose Overmiller. Trustees must pay 100 annually to the Swedish Lutheran church and 100 to the poor of Roberts Township. Croft left a quarter section of land about three miles northeast of town.
A birthday party was held Saturday afternoon in her honor with her grandmothers present. The young hostess and her friends played games, then enjoyed ice cream and wafers. Florence received many presents from her guests.

Henry troop of Boy Scouts celebrated the thirteenth national anniversary Friday night in the Methodist church social rooms. The program included six recruits invested as tenderfoot, several members advanced to second and first class with badges, and Albert Rowe received multiple merit badges and the Eagle Scout Badge. Spectators and parents enjoyed lively games and a substantial lunch in the cafeteria afterward.
Joel and Elmira Carson born 1862 in Saratoga township. She married George Scholes and mother to Walter P. Scholes. Died February 22 1923 of ptomaine poisoning in Ocean Park California. Survived by son and two sisters in California. Interred Henry Cemetery February 28 1928.
Florence Huberts, turning thirteen, was greatly surprised Sunday evening upon returning home from a visit with friend Billie Heininger. Friends shouted surprise as she entered to find a party organized by her mother with games and refreshments including ice cream cake candy and popcorn balls.

A quiet wedding took place at St Luke's Episcopal church in Peoria at 1 30 p m on Wednesday February 28. Miss Anna Kizer became the bride of Edward Baugh. Both are well known Whitefield residents. They will reside with the groom's mother Mrs William Baugh for the present.
Sam Bacon born November 15, 1882 in Putnam Ill. died February 26 1928 in Decatur Ill. of pneumonia meningitis at 40. Funeral held at J C Bacon home Putnam with M E church and Henry lodge Masons. Survived by son James Chauncey Bacon of Pullman WA and parents J G and Mrs Bacon plus siblings.
A large crowd of the local order of the O E S enjoyed a delightful evening after a regular meeting with a special program. Mrs H G Dusenberry performed several instrument solos, followed by the playlette The Sister Mason depicting two candidates into the Masonic order for women. J K O Neil and L R Phillips played the feminine roles, a live goat was shown, and refreshments concluded the event.
Citizens attending the Tuesday evening entertainment by a Hawaiian quartet praised the haunting melodies. Local lyceum committees receive commendation for this excellent program in the smaller town.
The city ordered a larger two ton Ruggles chassis fire truck to replace the light Ford now in use. It will feature a special body, side and rear steps, and room for more firefighters. Arrival is expected around March 22 from Saginaw Michigan.
Funeral services for Dr Jesse A Swem 64 prominent Henry physician and city resident for twenty years were led by Rev W J Carpenter of the Christian church. Henry Lodge No 119 A F and A M and Peoria Commandery No 8 K T acted as escort. Pallbearers included Elmer Quinn Albert Quinn J K O Neill T J Se graves Dr R S Bayne and George E Pace. Burial followed at Henry Cemetery.
A small fire broke out behind Schneider's Cafe last Friday afternoon triggering a brief alarm. Fire was contained by bystanders with buckets of water and the blaze was quickly extinguished.
Charles R. Martin plans a new machine shop in the rear of the Henry hospital building on Second street, replacing the former Charles Bell site. A lathe drill press and milling machine with a motor will be installed, and an opening announcement will follow.
Mr. and Mrs James Beaumont announce the birth of their daughter Marjorie Lois on February 14 at Swedish Covenant Hospital Chicago. The newborn weighed eight pounds six ounces. Mrs Beaumont formerly Miss Josephine Harbeck, once employed by the late Mr and Mrs Charles Jones. All are well and send regards to Henry friends.
Chester Dowty, son of Mr and Mrs Arthur Dowty of Washburn, was badly hurt at the high school when he jumped from the steps and grasped an overhead pipe slipping and falling striking his head on a marble step and losing consciousness for several hours.
Mr and Mrs William Haas returned from Chicago where Mr Haas attended the lumbermen convention and visited relatives in Naperville. Adolph Haas accompanied them and plans to remain. Mrs Haas stays to visit her mother Anna Schmitt in Naperville before returning to Hopedale.
