A brief note describes someone pointing out several facts to Donald Hastings and his wife Dorothy, who is seated beside him, during a public gathering.
A three day training school on farm and family finance is held with husbands and wives attending to manage farming finances together. Classes run 10 am to 3 pm from Tuesday to Friday with guests including Miss Laura Lane of Philadelphia and local residents from Hopewell Evans Richland and Henpin. The program is sponsored by extension services and local agricul tural and home economic councils.
Robert Child elder son of Mr and Mrs Oring Child will receive his diploma from Worsham College of Juary Science in Chicago on March 9. His mother plans to attend the ceremony in the city, followed by a banquet and the presentation of diplomas. Bob, known in Henry, will return home to work as an mortician at the funeral home and has attended Worsham after time at Western Illinois University.
Henry Chamber of Commerce plans a third annual Antique Auto Pageant to be held Saturday with the Mendota and Illinois Valley Antique Auto clubs contributing cars. Bradley Johnson coordinates the Friendship Tour with the two clubs as the retail committee handles details. Directors discussed city planning, sewer survey, Route 29 improvements, and officer vacancies with Meissner to appoint a replacement for Wally Carlson.
Republican fund raising dinner moved to 5 30 p m at Hotel Pere Marquette Peoria to coincide with the Bradley Cincinnati Missouri Valley playoff game. Paul Catlon chairs the event with Congressman Michel and Charles Carpentier expected. $25 tickets available through county chairmen or Michel's office.
County ASC chairmen announced 1962 Feed Grain Program sign-up in Marshall Putnam and nearby counties. The plan offers payments for reducing corn and sorghum acreage to conserve use while maintaining barley base and eligibility for price supports.
In the 1961 annual report Central Illinois Light shows operating revenue rising about five percent to 46.79 million from 44.67 million in 1960, while net income fell about eight percent. Electricity accounted for 27.4 million, gas for 18.4 million, and steam heat near 1 million.
James Tindall, secretary of the Henry grade school board, said the board still seeks a Springfield ruling on how members are divided between townships. He has contacted the state office again for a written decision, hoping for a ruling within a few days before candidate filing for the spring election.
Guy Johnson, longtime Farm Bureau director for Macoupin county Carlinville, is named organization director for Marshall Putnam Farm Bureau. He will resign Carlinville post and assume duties in about a month, succeeding Erle Derry who resigned to become a Lexington motel manager. Don Mueller of Bloomington will assist as trainee, a University of Illinois College of Agriculture graduate. Mueller hails from Chapin in Morgan County and is set to begin in January.
Planning for 1962 vacation church school met March 6 at the Methodist church under Rev Hubert Lytle with ministers from Presbyterian Christian and Methodist churches. June 4 to 15 are set for the school daily 9 to 11 a.m. A vacation church school institute will be held March 26 to 30 with further information to follow.
Marshall Putnam Farm Bureau leaders organize a Thursday tour to the new IRA office building in Bloomington with 100 plus pre registered travelers from Henry and area townships. The departure is 8 15 a m from Henry with arrivals in Bloomington around 9 45 a m for a site inspection and luncheon.
Representatives from St. Marys Henry Henry grade schools Senachwine grade school and Henry Senachwine high school met at the local high school to coordinate teaching programs and advance student training. Dr. Donald Prince of Illinois State Normal University advised, Earl Wilson named general chairman, and administrators attended for planning.

Wyoming city council approved the sale of 60 000 dollars in revenue bonds at four percent interest to fund an addition to the sewage treatment plant. A federal grant of 23 268 dollars aided construction and a contract for the work was awarded to Iber and Sons of Peoria for 67 000 dollars. Bonds will be sold in 500 and 1 000 dollar denominations to local businessmen with a March 19 sale deadline.
