Doran Dies During Health Trip at Hot Springs Ark
Robert Doran died at 4 30 pm on a hotel health trip to Hot Springs Arkansas while resting with his wife Amanda Baker Doran. He was born March 7 1844 and would have been 82. He served in the Civil War and lived in Henry Illinois. He leaves two sons Clarence Lacon and Claude Sioux City and five other children. Funeral services were held at home with Rev H G Dusenberry and graveside rites by American Legion Post 328.

Mine inspectors visited the Clift coal mine west of Henry to probe a blast that burned two miners. They attributed the explosion to a neglected auction fan run too late, noting no gas detected Monday but warning a prestart fan could have prevented trouble. Rock was blown down and cleanup may take days. owner Mr. Clift has not decided on reopening.

Frederick Siebold longtime Sparland baker and resident dies at his daughter Mrs Bussell home February 26 at age 86. He was born in Fellbach Germany August 27 1839 served in the 11th Illinois Cavalry in the Civil War and later opened a Sparland bakery with George Schafer in 1868. Survived by son Harry two daughters Mrs Mary Bussell and Mrs Julia Royce eleven grandchildren and siblings, service held at Sparland Baptist church with interment in Sparland cemetery.

Gibbs Home Destroyed by Fire in Bethel See Sparland area
The Gibbs home and wash-house west of Sparland, Bethel area, were entirely destroyed by fire at 4 6 o clock yesterday morning. Hired man Uriah Humphrey suffocated trying to awaken. flames likely started in an outside chimney. Neighbors and Sparland residents fought the blaze, little saved, including a grand piano. Gibbs family, with three children, are staying with Miss Jennie Watkins in Sparland. Mr Gibbs is brother of Mrs Schewe of this city.

Mr and Mrs Samuel Freeman quietly observed their golden anniversary at home in Hopewell on Monday February 22. James H. Tunis of Peoria died Saturday morning at 76 after a sixteen week illness from Bright's disease. Car Overturns Near Henry Injuries Reported
A car driven by Irving Sheeley of Glénis Bros. overturned on Spotted Dufébiman hill east of the city on Monday morning when a burr broke. The car turned completely over. Mr. Sheeley and his wife escaped uninjured. It took several hours before a wrecker could sight the scene.

Archibald W. Hopkins 81 lifelong Granville resident and banker died after a prolonged illness. A legislator in Illinois serving in three General Assemblies and president of the National Bank of Granville, he helped establish Hopkins High School and farmed extensively. Surviving are a son and a daughter.

William Fountain a former Henry County resident dies at Keota Iowa on February 23 at age 56. He moved from Whitefield to Illinois then to Keota with his wife Lenora Bell the couple had a daughter Myrna Faith. He served as a church leader and community trustee and was a devoted husband and father. Funeral services were held Thursday at 1 30 p m in Keota with burial in the local cemetery. Blaze Damages Milo Farm Home of Henry Schmitt
Neighbors spotted a furnace fire on the sitting room floor of Henry Schmitt’s farm residence two miles northeast of Milo Monday night at about nine. The overheated furnace caused $300 to $400 in damage. Ray Hart of Tiskilwa rented the home and was away at the time.

Camp Grove Man Falls From Tree Injuring Arm
James McGinn fell while cutting limbs on his farm near Camp Grove Saturday dislocating his elbow and suffering a double fracture of the right arm. He was rushed to the local hospital by Fred Carroll for treatment and was later slated for Ottawa x rays. He is staying with his mother in law Mrs George Bickerman.
