Fatal car crash on Pierson road claims James Xander
An auto accident on the Pierson coal mine road near Peoria on Friday afternoon left James Xander fatally injured. A coroner's inquest found meningitis and a skull fracture caused his death after he and two Peoria companions rode in Elva Wolfe and John Richardson's car. witnesses described a high speed crash through a hedge and into a field, with conflicting accounts and signs of intoxication. Xander, a retired garageman born in Olney, would have turned 53 in July. he is survived by his wife Clara and other relatives.

Donald Powers alias Woods Wil Ham Sparks and Nick Solminetti, all of Hennepin, were arrested Wednesday by Sheriff Applen of Bureau County and jailed in Princeton on charges of destroying dens of fur bearing animals. Wardens from Sparland issued the warrant. Coons disturbed. They may plead guilty or furnish $1,000 bond for county court on March 7.

Sarah Deck aged 71 or 74? passed Friday morning in Hennepin after 18 months of illness. Born May 13, 1847 in Dauphin County Pennsylvania, she was one of nine children.
