Prominent Engineer John Buchanan of Lacon Dies
John Lee Buchanan, born in Lacon, a noted electrical engineer, led General Electric Supply and chaired the Central States General Electric Supply Company. He served as a major and lieutenant colonel in World War I, oversaw 1939 World's Fair exhibits, and held executive roles in Chicago and Greenwich. Survived by widow Cornelia Townsend Buchanan, daughter Virginia and son John Jr, he passed away after a life of technical leadership and public service. Funeral held at Greenwich, with remains cremated and ashes returned to Lacon.

Eugene Ransom Hurt In Farm Fall At Peoria Hospitalized
Eugene Ransom 32 son of James Ransom a well known farmer residing near Henry is in serious condition at St Francis Hospital Peoria after a fall from a hay wagon at a farm near Farmington Illinois. He sustained multiple fractures and is reported to have a fifty fifty chance of recovery with swelling subsiding. He has worked on farms in Henry Putnam and Farmington prior to this incident.

Henry relatives report the death of John Monahan 73 of Oak Park on Saturday. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Ascension Catholic Church with burial at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. He was born Feb 6 1864 near Whitefield and grew up locally. Survived by widow Sarah Harty daughter Theodota Schjybal two grandchildren two sisters Mrs Ifaty Wallace Mrs Margaret Harney and William Monahan of Henry two brothers Tim and Patrick and sister Katie all of Henry plus other relatives. He worked in Swift and Company’s delicatessen and retired on pension.

George Lester 21 is jailed in Marshall County on a charge of assault with intent to kill Miss Lillian Freddricke 17 of Henry after a confrontation on Second Street. The girl's parents had opposed the affair and Sheriff Brown intervened Friday. Lester arrested by Officer Lester Knight and held to the April 3 County Court with 1000 bond.

Lester Leigh of La Prairie said 684 cribs holding over 640000 bushels of corn have been placed under seal as security for government loans in Marshall and Putnam Counties. Loans of 67 cents a bushel are issued through the Commodity Credit Corporation and 364,890 dollars are available. All loans due by March 31 require sale notices to Henry conservation office by March 10 with no extensions. A new sign up will be held next week.
