Sudden Death of Henry Dauber Shocks Henry Marshall Putnam Areas

In Marshall and Putnam counties the community mourns the death of Joseph Dauber a prominent livestock dealer. He died Tuesday morning at his home from malignant mumps contracted recently. Dauber was among the best known figures with wide business ties and extensive livestock dealings across several regions.

Dauber livestock dealer dies suddenly

Henry community mourns prominent livestock dealer Mr Dauber born 1894 at Henry. He built a large business shipping cedar cattle and other livestock to farmers, valued for fairness and amiable nature. Funeral services set at St. Joseph's Henry with burial at Patrick's Cemetery. Bearers include local friends and associates.

Sparland Sailor Robert Sutherland Dies of War Injuries

The first Marshall County fatality of the present war, Seaman First Class Robert David Sutherland, 21, of Sparland, died June 19 at Mare Island Naval Hospital from burns and injuries suffered at Pearl Harbor on December 7. Born 1921 in LaPrairie Township, he enlisted in the Navy as a teen and served about two years in the same unit. A military funeral is planned June 26 at La Prairie Cemetery, with American Legion posts officiating.

Rev Ward to Leave Henry Sparland Churches for Bement

At the Galesburg Methodist Conference Rev Walter T Ward was reassigned from Henry and Sparland churches to Bement near Decatur. Rev Wilbur Powell will preach at Henry and Sparland June 28, with his wife and four daughters joining. Ward leaves after five years of service in Henry and Sparland, during which funds were raised for Peoria Hospital and the Champaign Urbana Wesleyan Foundation, and local church improvements were made. Henry City Council appeals for street use cooperation

The Henry City Council announces the paving program completion and warns that fines will be issued for heavy lug driving and horses with sharp shoes. All-Out Drive For Scrap Rubber To Be Launched

An all-out drive to collect scrap rubber will be launched in the Henry area this weekend under the Red Cross affiliated effort led by Harold Hank and Leslie Rickey. Four trucks will canvass rural Henry Friday afternoon and Saturday, with farmers calling Standard Oil Station to arrange pickup. War Bond Sales Beat Quotas in Marshall Putnam Counties

In Marshall and Putnam counties residents exceeded June bond and stamp quotas. Marshall County bought 54,193.75 dollars in the first 15 days, with McNabb and Toluca showing strong payroll deduction participation. Putnam County reached 14,026 dollars in 15 days, with McNabb notably contributing 9,200 dollars.
