Final plans by Henry post No. 323 American Legion and Jack Beaty outline an amateur boxing card to be staged at the Henry gymnasium Monday evening August 10 at 8 30 p m The card features Vincé Preno La Salle and Kenny Little Caterpillar Jackson Peoria in the main matchups and includes eight bouts with top amateur fighters from several towns plus the Ebony Flash Bruce Wade Peoria versus Cliff McKeel Peoria as a highlighted matchup. Regular AAU rules apply with one dollar admission and Ben Hauber in charge of reservations.

Band Concert Tonight in Central Park by Two Henry Band
The Two Henry Municipal Band presents its current season concert tonight at 8 o'clock led by Wilfred Wright with vocalists Elaine and Eloise Pickrel and accompanist Rose Reinbeck. The program features marches overtures waltzes medleys and popular numbers including Washington Hosts of Freedom Day Dreams When You're Smiling and a medley of popular tunes.

Chance Loses to Sweeney on Legion Convention Card

Federated Bible Class Meets in Toluca
About one hundred attended the Marshall County Federated Bible Class meeting at the Christian Church in Toluca on Friday evening. Rev. B. F. Yancey is the Toluca church pastor. An excellent supper was served at 7 o clock by the Loyal Women’s class. Young men of the Sunday School acted as waiters. The men’s quartette Roy Steinke John Martin Frank Fecht and Arthur Holz sang two selections during the hour. After a social hour the assembly enjoyed a fine program.

Fair Grounds Ready for Farm Bureau Picnic Event at Henry
The Marshall Putnam Farm Bureau picnic is set for Tuesday August 25 at Henry with the Marshall Putnam Fair following September 15 16 17 18. An amphitheatre seats about 3500 and the art hall opens on picnic day with chairs and a drinking fountain. A Macy public address system will carry the program as the Illinois Cowboys and Monmouth Cavaliers from WMBD Peoria perform. Dr W L Bayne and Bissell Shaver in charge of sports report many contests across both counties.

Home Bureau to hold adult recreation camp in Tazewell county
Home Bureau members from Fulton Peoria Tazewell and Marshall Putnam counties will attend an adult recreation camp in Tazewell county on August 3 4 and 5 with activities including games swimming demonstrations handcrafts and a camp fire ceremony. Tolucans Break Jail In Broad Daylight Escape
Toluca jail inmates Matteo Amadeo and Tony Sceauta escaped in broad daylight less than an hour after arrest for operating a still. Federal agents raided a two story building on Toluca main street and left to destroy the still. a confederate helped pull bars from a cell window with a truck, allowing a getaway. A giant still operation with 20 000 gallons of mash was found on the scene with an estimated value of $10 000 owned by a Chisago bootleg gang.

Road work on Route 89 C delayed by new wage law
Work on Route 89 C between Henry and Magnolia postponed and re advertised after a wage scale hike by the general assembly. Mrs James Nellinger of Camp Grove endured a bizarre ear incident when a bug crawled into her ear while asleep. Attempts to remove the insect failed until a Bradford physician used chloroform to kill it. The bug was removed piece by piece after legs and wings were detached.

Second Tiskilwa Man Dies After Auto Crash
Roy Larson of Tiskilwa died at Perry Memorial Hospital Saturday night after a July 20 crash near Princeton that also claimed Gus Swanson. Albert Gustafson remains held in Bureau County Jail as investigators seek fault. The trio’s car skidded on gravel, hit a tree and a concrete culvert, ejecting all three.
