Robbery Try at Marshall County Courthouse In Lacon
A group of three men attempted to force entry to the Marshall County courthouse in Lacon around 8 o clock this morning to steal an immense still from the Carrithers farm. Sheriff Davis and deputies pursued toward Peoria. Earl Ogden was bound over on 5000 dollars bond. Ed Court, Peoria, questioned but freed under 2000 dollars bond.

Mrs Elizabeth Buck Dies After Operation at Peoria
Elizabeth Buck of Richland township wife of Willis Buck died in Peoria after an operation for appendicitis. She was the eldest daughter of Simon and Shafer of Lacon and left a husband two daughters and three sons along with her parents and two brothers. Funeral was held Tuesday afternoon in Saigon with interment in the local cemetery.

Farmer Severely Injured by Sickle on Dove's Tower Farm
Mr Christin, living on Dove's Tower farm northwest of John Bonges, suffered serious injuries Tuesday afternoon when a mower clogged. While clearing the bar, he stepped aside as the team sped up, the sickle cut one limb above the heel, severing tendons and injuring a finger. His son rushed to John Ongle home for aid, Dr Franklin gave first aid, and the man was taken to Spring Valley hospital for care.

Mrs. Elizabeth Moreland sister of D. C. Cross died at her Lacon home Friday morning after months of illness. Born Elizabeth Cross in Rutland to Samuel and Maria Cross she was 56. Fire broke out Wednesday morning at six o'clock destroying Martin Zilm's merchandise store and contents. William Davidson and Mrs. Davidsons residence above the store were lost, while Albert Mariiin's pool hall and soft drink parlor next door burned completely. Total loss estimated around 25,000. Fire trucks from Varna and Washburn responded. adjacent buildings were saved with only partial damage.
