Post Office Moves to New Building in Putnam
The Putnam Post Office moved last Saturday from Mrs. Ruth Stipp’s residence where it had been for 38 years to the former grocery building. Mrs. Stipp served 36 years as postmistress, retiring two years ago. Mrs. Alice Deisinger then worked in the office. Mrs. Mamie Fleming, of Lacon and Sparland post office employee, will take charge August 4 as the new postmistress.

Thirty-One Chamber Baseball Tickets Remain
Thirty-one tickets remain unsold for the Henry Chamber of Commerce sponsored Cubs vs Cards trip on July 30. Tickets cost $12 for adults and $10 for children, sold at Merchans Henry State Bank Watercotts and Gambles. Buses depart Henry Pool at 7 30 am for the Chicago game.

Races Rescheduled After MP Fair Rainout
Heavy rain canceled the Short Track Motorcycle races at the MP Fair after two qualifying heats. John Gray said the event is rescheduled for 8 p.m Friday with rainchecks given to about 2 000 spectators. Attendance was described as fair during the 52nd Annual Marshall Putnam Fair as weather kept many away. The big Demo Derby was expected to attract the largest crowd on Tuesday night.

Funeral Services for Christopher Child in Peoria Helicopter Crash
Funeral services were held for Christopher Child four at St Joseph's Catholic Church Peoria with Rev Noonan officiating. Burial followed in Henry City Cemetery. Also honored were Robert Child thirty four and father of Christopher at Henry United Presbyterian Church with Rev Marshall Simpson leading and Pallbearers named. Memorial fund for the incident exceeded 2400 dollars.

A June 11 1973 Henry High School board meeting directed Supt John Lavelle to study a girls athletic program with Tri County Conference and IHSA input. IHSA has not set policy on male female non contact sports or separate programs. Local girls have play days but no interschool league and no girls on the Henry golf team.

Sulky Driver Injured as Horse Falls at Fair
Harry Burright, 53, of Cicero sustained a shoulder injury when his horse Vera Byrd fell during a pacing race at the Marshall Putnam County Fair. Burright's sulky struck the guardrail and he was thrown onto the track before the grandstands as Vera Byrd trailed in fourth.
