Commander Bousted Dies After Illness at 46
Edward Bousted 46 longtime Granville resident and commander of Granville post No 180 American Legion died Tuesday evening at St Margaret's hospital Spring Valley following a recent operation. He served with the American Expeditionary Forces in France and led the legion post for the past year. Surviving daughter Myrtle and son William plus three sisters and two brothers. Funeral plans tentatively set for Friday with Legion posts expected to attend.

CCC Camp to Begin in Riviera Park Within Two Weeks
Work on the soil erosion project by the Civilian Conservation Corps in Riviera Park is slated to start in about two weeks though exact timing is controlled by the War Department. More than 9,000 acres are signed for erosion work and the total will grow after a new bridge is finished, enabling fieldmen to reach farmers east of the river. Four Escape As Train Smashes Car At Crossing
Nemiah Hawkins and three young children narrowly escaped death when their car stalled on the tracks opposite the Shell station on the town’s west side. A Rock Island passenger train struck the vehicle just after six Saturday evening as Mr Hawkins attempted to return to town. He pulled the children to safety before the collision demolished the car.
