Years of Illness End Tuesday for Samuel L. Clift
Samuel Latham Clift died Tuesday afternoon at home after an eight year illness. Arteriosclerosis caused the death. He was born in Poughkeepsie New York and spent most of his life in Henry area, farming near Whitefield before settling on Market Street. Survived by wife Mary Gregory Clift and three children Frank Mildred Hughes Hazel, plus other relatives. Services today at 2 30 from the home. Burial in Sugar Grove cemetery beside his wife.

Ruth Mills, daughter of Mr and Mrs W L Mills, died at their home near McNabb after a yearlong struggle with tuberculosis. Born on Quaker Lane and a Swaney 1915 graduate, she had taught at Tonica High School before nine months at Ottawa sanitarium. Funeral set for tomorrow at 2:30 p m from her home.

Last Rites for Ivan Winship at Putnam
Ivan James Winship died at his San Bernardino home July 13 after a three day illness. Funeral services were held at the Putnam Christian church with Rev. Carpenter officiating and burial in Putnam Cemetery. He served in World War I with heavy artillery at Fort MacArthur and was honorably discharged in 1918. He married Claudia Mitchell in 1919 and is survived by his wife, two children, and several siblings and relatives. Relatives from Portland and Chicago attended.

Marshall County gravel road project advances to Peoria line
The Marshall County road from LaPrairie store in LaPrairie township toward the Peoria county line will be fully gravelled within three weeks. County Superintendent O. W. Boers reports work began last Tuesday and a 9 inch gravel coat is being laid on the three mile section linking to Highway 29 near Mossville. The project aims to connect Marshall County gravel roads through to Bureau County, with gravel pit prospecting in Saratoga township to finish the north segment.
