James McAleer Buried in Henry After California Death
Funeral services for James A. McAleer former rural mail carrier of Henry route were held at Green Funeral Home Tuesday afternoon with Rev Edward L Gibgon officiating and music by Mrs C A Bourdette. Interment followed in Henry city cemetery. Pallbearers listed. McAleer born March 23 1873 in Gilman Illinois was one of seven children and married Alice Bell in Henry in 1900. He died July 13 1950 in San Diego after long illness at age 77 years 3 months 20 days past retirement from the mail service and long service with the Henry Presbyterian church where he served as Ruling Elder since 1904.

Spt Herman Snyder son of Mr and Mrs Sylvan Snyder of Lostant has been ordered to Okinawa six hundred miles from the Korean battle area. He was located at Camp McClellan Alabama with his wife and daughter when orders came to leave. Snyder served in World War II and re enlisted at end of hostilities. The Sylvan Snyders went to Alabama and brought their son's wife and daughter to Lostant as orders came so suddenly he had no time to arrange other plans.

Four-Hour Effort To Restore Li Life Unsuccessful
Ben Schmitt, 51, a Henry area maintenance man, died after receiving a 7200 volt electric shock while helping to erect a rock phosphate loading plant for Marshall-Putnam Oil Co. at the north edge of Henry. A large crew worked four hours to revive him. the accident occurred about 9:45 am as a crane lifted steel sections near overhead power lines. Gale Johnson, Al Longman, and Delbert Gillespie aided in attempts at resuscitation as witnesses described the near-contact with the high-tension lines. Public Service wires fed the fatal shock.
