First parity corn payments issued in Marshall Putnam counties
Marshall and Putnam counties received the first group of parity payments for the 1940 corn crop. Marshall County totals $15,280.80 and Putnam County shares are distributed from the Henry office with more payments expected in the coming weeks as reports arrive. Farmers are collecting their checks at the Henry office today.

The Lehman farm at Route 51 near Dana won first prize in the 1940 Marshall County Farm Floral contest sponsored by Governor Henry Horner. The 160 acre Lehmans credit Mrs. Lehman for the garden’s care and feature a barrel mail box planted with petunias. The Bade farm on Route 17 placed second. both properties are 160 acres. Judges were Mrs. Ball, Mrs. Rollo Litchfield, and Mrs. Floyd Holmes.

New Columbia Oats Grown On McNabb Farm
