Granville Hennepin 4-H Livestock Winners Lead Contest
The Granville Hennepin 4-H club swept to top honors in the Marshall Putnam livestock judging contest held Monday. About 7100 spectators watched its teams judge 15 rings of livestock, including 7 dairy cattle. Judges included Loren Nelson Garrett Schumacher Elmer Walin Ernest Junker A E Bade and R V McKee of Varna with John Hastings Jr of Lacon presiding over beef cattle judging. High clubs winners were Granville Hennepin Saratoga Leadaways Great Creek Boosters and Hopewell Neighbor Kids. Top individuals were Chris Kunkel John Read Marilyn Marie Ken Kunkel and Benj Day. Winners earned a district school of instruction and will be eligible for Urbana state judging in September. Gordon Maddy leads the Granville Hennepin club which also staged a July tour with a safe driving contest. No disturbances were reported.

Henry Grade School Names New Seventh Grade Teacher
John Ellis of Geneva Illinois has been selected as Henry grade school's seventh grade teacher and coach. The board chose Ellis from 51 applicants at a July 11 meeting. Ellis a Navy veteran and Northwestern University graduate will teach seventh graders and lead softball basketball and track programs while also handling physical education for seventh and eighth grades. He hopes to develop a community recreational program and has relatives in Peoria.

Remains of Toluca Veteran Return From Germany
The remains of Pvt. Clark Mathis of Toluca are en route for burial in Antioch cemetery Toluca with Toluca American Legion Post in charge. A spring burial is planned with services at 2 30 p m at the Antioch cemetery. Mathis was killed in World War II and was identified after his remains were found near Hurtgen Germany and interned in Neuville Co ndroz Belgium. His wife Charlotte Mathis and son George Mathis reside in Washburn. Memorials were held in 1945 at the Toluca Christian church.
