Thousands Flock to Henry for Four Day Fourth of July Gala
Henry Illinois hosted a four day Fourth of July celebration sponsored by American Legion Post 323 drawing thousands from Illinois and neighboring states. About 15 000 people visited and 5 000 cars passed through the city with a fireworks display on the riverfront. Prizes totaling about 1800 in merchandise and cash were awarded across four nights at Central Park with winners including Loriaine White LaSalle Ill and Alden Hunter Henry Ill among others. Traffic was managed by state police and deputized locals ensuring an orderly event.

All members and friends of the Henry Methodist Church are urged to save Sunday August 18 for a church homecoming. Over four days the Legion Auxiliary served 7200 bottles of pop at Central Park during the Fourth of July celebration. They also sold ice cream cones hamburgers coffee candy bars and cigarettes.
