Wayne: Hart Car Mishap Injures Griffin Brother
Wayne Griffin brother of Clifton Griffin of Saratoga was seriously injured last Thursday when he was run over by an automobile. He fell onto the front of the car drawn by another vehicle, breaking the left shoulder and two ribs, with the right lung punctured. He was taken to Proctor hospital in Peoria where the fractures were reduced and his condition worsened with a slight lung hemorrhage reported Wednesday morning.

McNabb Man Tops June Milk Herd in Marshall Putnam Area
Arthur G. Wilson of McNabb led the Marshall Putnam Dairy Herd Improvement Association for June with an average 780 pounds of milk and 27.7 pounds butterfat from 310 cows on test. Second place went to J G Pletsch of Granville with 829 pounds milk and 38.7 pounds butterfat from nine cows. The association, now incorporated under Illinois cooperative law, is non profit and renamed Marshall Putnam Dairy Herd Improvement Association, Incorporated.

Charles E. Rickey Dies at 86 in Lacon
Funeral services were held at the Rickey home in South Lacon for Charles E. Rickey who died Saturday after a ten day illness from a paralytic stroke. He was 86, lifelong in the area, survived by sons Fred Peoria Sam Lacon William Henry and daughters Mabel Mrs Ernest Moritz Mrs Chas Wier and Mrs Charles Stickel plus many grandchildren. Mrs Rickey had died earlier.

Jimmie Mills twenty year old Broadmoor youth received a hearing in Judge Homer Barney's court in Lacon and was assessed a twenty five dollar fine and costs for alleged theft. He reportedly stole a spotlight auto jack and other accessories from a car owned by Merle Young last Thursday evening. Mills was apprehended Monday morning in Broadmoor and taken to Lacon where he pleaded guilty and was jailed awaiting the hearing.
