Post Office Introduces 8 Cent Stamp In Response To Rate Hike
The U S Post Office prints 38 cent stamps to meet the new 3 cent first class rate effective July 6 and ships about a billion stamps to postmasters as a six month supply. A new standard 8 cent stamp will replace the 2 cent image of Washington with purple color and date removal. An Olympiad 8 cent stamp will appear temporarily for Los Angeles games next year.

Harold Shearer of Saratoga had top individual score 348. Richland Dairy Judging team scored 877 to win that division with George Spangler first in all dairy classes. Longer Duck Season Predicted for Illinois Fall
The 1932 migratory waterfowl season in Illinois is expected to extend beyond 30 days. Hunters press Congress and the U S Department of Agriculture to lengthen the season. Farmers Upset Greys In Last Inning Attack
The Marshall-Putnam Farm Bureau nine rallied for four runs in the ninth inning to overcome the Henry Greys 7 to 3 at the fairgrounds diamond. Henry Greys built a 3 run lead by inning two and three before the Farm Bureau offense struck late, aided by four hits and a timely home run by Green. Despite outhitting 10 to 8, the Greys could not hold their late deficit as Stoner Morgensen and Sendelbach hurled for the Farm Bureau. Next Sunday the Greys face Bureau at Bureau ball park in a rematch and on August 28 the Old-time Greys meet the Moderns.

Griffin Family Reunion Held July 3 in Normal Venona Area
The grandchildren of the late George W. Griffin formed a temporary group in May and elected Harold Glover as president and Virgil Griffin as secretary treasurer. On July 3 they met at the John Swaney school campus but moved indoors to Perry Griffin’s home near McNabb due to rain. Forty four attended. the gathering established a permanent annual reunion with sons and daughters as guests. The 1933 meeting is planned for the John Swaney campus if weather permits, on the first Sunday after Labor Day.

10000 Farm Folk At July 4 Picnic At Henry Fairgrounds
A July 4 celebration at Henry fairgrounds drew an estimated 10,000 Farm Bureau members and friends from Henry and surrounding townships. The parade featured multiple floats, including the Dinner Bell float and others depicting taxes, industry, and agriculture. Contests, a picnic, and a Henry Municipal Band concert followed, with prayers by Rev. D. W. Madden.
