Death of J O Hill ends long Henry life of service
J O Hill longtime Henry resident died after a lengthy illness at his home. He was a former banker at First National and Henry National Bank and ran a real estate business. He served as superintendent of the Marshall Putnam Fair Art Department and was active in the Methodist Episcopal church. He was married to Florence M Brown, their anniversary noted in 1931, and survived by his wife and a son. Interment was in Henry Cemetery.

Former resident Henry J. Cook dies in Ohio at 66
Henry J. Cook, a former resident of Henry, died in Ohio after a week long illness. Born November 24, 1864 in Buffalo, he married Ray Lippert in 1893 and had four children, two of whom survived. Funeral services were held July 4 at A. B. Smith chapel with Rev. Fr. Andrew Schauer officiating. interment followed at Calvary Cemetery. He had lived in Henry and Peoria and was a wagon painter. survivors include his daughter Mrs. Marguerite Hicks of Chicago and sons John and Thomas Cook of Brooklyn.

The Illinois state penitentiary at Btateville has been awarded the contract for manufacturing license plates. A conference with Warden and Secretary of State Frank D. Whipp approved a cost-plus basis. Production will begin after materials arrive, with plates in battleship gray and royal blue, using about 550 tons of steel.

Rev J A Johnson led singing to begin, children served at a long cafeteria table, adults gathered on lawn sets for a shared feast and evening ball game. Lightning kills 16 year old Henry youth
Guy Edward Rowe of Whitefield, a 16 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Rowe, died at his home Friday afternoon June 29 from shock after being struck by lightning during an electrical rainstorm. GOX PLANS TO OPEN MARK MINE ON AUGUST FIRST
