Elgin Soldier Returns Home on 15 Day Delay Enroute
Donald Elgin son of Mr Reuben Elgin of Henry is home from Maryland for a 15 day enroute delay before transfer to Camp Pendleton California. He has served in the air corps the past three and a half years and expects overseas orders after arriving in California. Many of his unit mates who trained with him have been sent to the East and centers await overseas. Private Elgin feels fortunate to be transferred to the West Coast where men ship out to the South Pacific theater.

Farm Sells 360 Acres at Public Auction in Hennepin
Fred and Leon Balestri won the 360 acre Lawrence Ash farm in Magnolia Township at a public sale by Master Albert Pucci. Bidding opened at 38000 and topped at 42000 or 116 per acre. A. E. Marine acted as auctioneer and possession goes to buyers March 1 at the Hennepin courthouse.

James William Kincaid aged 66 of McNabb died January 18 1947 at his eldest son’s Villa Park home after a long illness. Born February 14 1880 to Andy and Sarah Kincaid he married Della Brown in 1903, later Honora Houlihan, and finally Ermel Brown in 1944. Survived by his wife and five sons Edward Victor James Clarente and Ray a daughter deceased and multiple former spouses.

The Parville Farms sale in Toluca broke records as the Hampshire boar Comprest sold for 8000 dollars. General Motors president C E Wilson attended, praising Comprest who will aid Michigan herd development. Gross receipts reached 27000 dollars from about 50 bred gifts, with an average price of 550 dollars. Wilson plans to return to Toluca next month for a business men’s meeting honoring Rev. The Wenona Wenona tournament drew the largest receipts yet, though overall attendance was down due to higher admission prices and cold weather. The Henry Westona game Friday drew 572 adults and 298 students, with Friday night receipts at $548.26 and total five night attendance 1,986 adults and 1,291 students.

John Edward Barry born April 17 1861 in St Louis Missouri died Sunday January 26 1947 at his Henry home after illness. He lived in Henry since infancy farming later in business with John Orr selling and servicing Overland cars. He served on Henry grade school board 46 years first elected 1906 and was alderman ten years. Survived by four children seven grandchildren and several great grandchildren a sister and other relatives. Funeral held at St Josephs Church Henry with Fr Causey officiating.
