Bradford Child Dies of Luckemia
Alan Leslie Pearson seven year old son of Hilding and Dorothy Pearson of Bradford died at Roberts' Children's Memorial hospital in Chicago on Thursday January 16. He had lymphatic leukemia for two years and was hospitalized the week before his death. He lived in Elmira and Tottlon before moving to Bradford in 1953 and attended Bradford grade school. He was a Boy Scout and member of the Lee Memorial Methodist church.

Mothers March on Polio Nets $270.43
The Henry Junior Woman's Club Mothers March on Polio raised 270.43 for the March of Dimes. Mrs. Russell Glover, township fund chairman, said the total was lower than last year and urged remaining contributors to contact her or drop funds at Brennan's Store Meridan's Drug Store or Steele's Tavern. Additional gifts included 74.69 from the Henry grade school and 25.00 from St. Mary's school.

Putnam county ranked second in state in purchases of series E and H savings bonds in 1957. Gerry D Scott Sr of Lacon volunteer savings bonds chairman notes Putnam bought 441777 dollars while Marshall county bought 1168271 dollars. Putnam achieved 127.7 percent of its quota for 1957 with a 1958 quota of 336000 dollars. Marshall county met 120.2 percent of its quota with a 1958 quota of 943000 dollars.

SP2 and Mrs. John Bailey visited Major General and Mrs. H. G. Maddox in Heidelberg Germany for a buffet supper on January 13. The event included cocktails a buffet supper a movie and a toast by the general. Sixteen guests attended including staff and friends with Bailey serving as cook. The Maddox family hosts as they return to the United States for reassignment. Mrs Bailey is the former Lorene Newell, daughter of James and Mrs. Newell of Henry.

The Marshall Putnam Fair association re elected all officers and directors at its annual meeting in the Henry State Bank building. Officers include President Clarence Stansell Frank Clift and John Monier as vice presidents Secre tary treasurer R H Monier and assistant secretary Mrs Virginia Finnegan. The board lists multiple directors and the 1958 fair marks the 37th annual event with planned repairs to the race track hub rail and building painting. 1957 receipts totaled 39749.18 across gate amphitheatre entry fees stall fees race entry and other income with a loan of 14000 repaid. Donors to Library Fund To Be Published
An alphabetical list of library fund donors is being prepared by the Henry Library board for publication in the Henry News-Republican in a week or two. The list will show names but not amounts of all contributors since the active campaign began after the Hufendick building became the library’s new home last summer. Remodeling is nearly finished except for a storm door and some furniture and shelving yet to arrive. The board hopes campaign funds will cover cooling equipment for summer use as the drive continues.
