Clifford Haws Former Henry Mayor Laid To Rest
Clifford Haws 91 of Magnolia, former Henry mayor and lifelong resident, was laid to rest Saturday January 22 at 2 p.m. at Magnolia cemetery in a service at Boose Funeral Home. The Rev. Richard Garabrant officiated with organ music by Mrs. Charles Johnston. Pallbearers were John McKirgan Jan Shanklin Donald Britton John Seibert Howard McQuilken and Roy Jeppson. He died January (obit notes Feb. dates) at Pleasant View Luther Home in Ottawa after two years of illness. He was survived by ten grandchildren twenty nine great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren and several relatives. He was predeceased by his wife Roberta Chapin and two daughters. Clifford Haws was born August 8 1874 near Magnolia and served as Magnolia area mayor before returning to farming south of Magnolia. The Haws family roots trace to early Putnam County settlers.
