Fire destroys two dwellings in city last week
Two houses in the northeast part of the city burned within 24 hours last week. Mrs. Minnie Sleater's home, occupied by Delbert Gillespie family, burned after gasoline ignited during garment cleaning. Mrs. Gillespie suffered minor burns. The second home owned by Mr. and Mrs. E N Martell, occupied by Thomas and Terrence O Meara, burned from an oil stove. Fire crews fought both blazes. one house was destroyed while the other risked spread to nearby properties.

Funeral directors consolidate to form expanded funeral association

William Robert Smith age 44 of Chicago was killed instantly when the Paige sedan skidded on frost and overturned near the C B and Q viaduct in Spring Valley at 1 a.m. Sunday. His nephew George T. Rose Camp Bandits Nabbed After Robbery Night
Police Officer Evan Sleater and Sheriff Glen Axline cornered two youths after a holdup at the Rose Camp filling station and barbecue north of Chillicothe.
