Henry Bowlers To Bowl In State Tournament
Five junior bowlers from Hofer Lanes Henry won first place trophies and a travelling trophy at the ninth annual Greater Peoria Junior Bowling Association Tournament in Peoria. They will compete in the state meet in Glendale Heights on April 8. The squad includes Dave Simmons Roger Hofer Tom Bogner Mike Mounts and Roger Cain. They totaled 2703 pins with 2238 plus 465 handicap and two boys finished second in doubles with 1124. All are HS students and bowl in the Saturday morning junior league at Hofer Lanes coached by Mrs Jan Henderson and Mrs Carol Hall.

Henry Boy Scouts Take Second in Area Klondike Derby
Eleven members of Henry Troop 74 competed at the Klondike Derby near Lacon with homemade dog sleds and nine events. They earned second place, a pennant for their trade flag staff, and an original patch. Scoutmaster Bob Babbitt led the group, with Clarence Bergfeld assisting. next weekend the troop will hold its annual winter campout at Camp Wakanda near Mossville.

Pancake and Sausage Day Draws 600 Rotarians in Cold Spell
On Sunday morning at Henry Grade School Rotarians hosted the second annual Pancake and Sausage Day as freezing rain slowed traffic. More than 600 attendees sampled meals cooked by Chuck Longanecker Bill Heriik and Charlie Cooper led dining. Local businesses provided hogs and supplies while Pete Baker and Robert Morris processed meat. Prizes included a Winchester shotgun a Panasonic radio and a hair dryer. Proceeds will fund future community projects.

Putnam County Band Parents for Hawaii met January 16 at Putnam County High School to review progress toward the $30 000 goal for the band trip to Hawaii in August 1973. Reported so far 2432 in donations and pledges plus ongoing fundraisers. band director Roger Hutchinson praised cooperation and noted 10000 raised since late October. Plans include a February 25 fundraising chicken dinner at John Swaney Attendance Center and a paper and glass drive monthly with countywide curb pickups. The group also plans a stay at the Reef Hotel Waikiki Beach and a Pearl Harbor tour.
