A large turnout attended the annual stockmen dinner and meeting hosted by MP Farm Bureau units at three locations. Henry gym hosted the program with discussions on livestock marketing and prices near prior year levels, amid a festive rural atmosphere.
William G. Stratton, Morris Republican, passed through Henry en route to eastern Illinois for an engagement. He praised Marshall and Putnam counties, cited strong support from past elections, highlighted depository and revenue gains as treasurer, and drew backing from Richard J. Lyons for the governor race.
Harriet B. Cain born 1863 in Saratoga township Marshall county married Richard Kelley on November 4 1886. They lived on a Saratoga farm before moving to Peoria where she died January 14 1952. Survived by husband son daughter eight grandchildren two great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral held January 16 1952 at Green Funeral Home Henry with Charles A. Bennett officiating. Burial at Saratoga cemetery.

A bon voyage dinner was hosted Sunday at Misses Katheryn and Rose Stadel home for Pfc Louis Stadel who reports to Camp Kilmer NJ and will depart for a European location. Guests included Mr and Mrs John Stadel Mr and Mrs Robert Klein Mary Helen and Raymond Granville Mr and Mrs Joseph Stadel Robert Stadel Mr and Mrs Virgil Hoffman and the Misses Stadel.
Putnam county voters face a sparse April 8 primary with a single contest for Magnolia township precinct No 2 Republican precinct committeeman between Thurl Swain and J Turner Mills. County school trustees races will fill the rest with seven appointed by party and no further competition.
Jesse Phillips of Magnolia won the public auction for the 3271 acre Pilot Hill Farm on January 19. The property, owned by Maude B. Chesney and Robert I. Zearing executor of Samuel Chesney, includes 140 acres tillable, 80 acres bluegrass pasture, livestock facilities, a modern home and tenant house. Phillips plans to take possession March 1 and continue turkey raising as he has gained acclaim in that field. L. D. Spaulding Jr. of Princeton led the sale as estate attorney with Francis Keegan and L. H. Baker as auctioneers. the sale was praised by all parties.
Sale notices announce farm sales near Streator Henry and Varna with several auctions led by Francis Keegan and other auctioneers. Dates include January 24 January 30 February 6 and February 7 with locations across Henry Varna and surrounding towns.
Nine petitions seek election to the new seven member Marshall County school trustees board. Candidates come from six districts including Mid-County Unit 4, Wenona Unit 1, Bennington Toluca No 2, Sparland No 3, LaRose No 18, and Henry Senachwine No 20. Election coincides with the April 8 party primary at same polling places with separate ballots.
Henry D Kessling 29 dies in a fatal accident at the Conco Meter plant in Lowell Wisconsin after an 7 45 am incident Jan 16 1952. A coroner's jury rules accidental death by suffocation and his funeral was held at Dysart Funeral Home Granville. He leaves his father Henry Kessling sister Esther and brother Alverne. Interment Florid cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post 1044.
Henry Rotary luncheon featured a film on Ford car production detailing parts suppliers and tooling from numerous firms nationwide. Guests included Chris Anderson, Leo Carroll, and Kenneth Dickens, with plans for next week a guest speaker and West Indies slides.
Coulter school in Saratoga township will be sold at a public auction on the premises at 2 o clock Saturday Feb 16 by the township school trustees Viron Gustafson Everett Newman and Wesley Emmons. The school has not been in session for years as students attended Doyle school and after district dissolution the territory was annexed to Doyle. An election held weeks ago authorized offering the building and site for sale.

Robert Loy son of W P Loy of Lacon selected to participate in Northwestern University Centennial celebration. He is a senior in the school of commerce and a member of Theta Delta Chi.
Bill Umbarger, 39, of Wenona, was treated at St Marys Hospital after a gun to his calf accidentally fired while he tried to dislodge a bullet from a target pistol. He is listed as no patient.
Steuben township voters approved a road bond proposal totaling 15000 dollars with 132 favoring and 47 opposing. Proceeds will fund purchase of a heavy duty road maintainer to handle more extensive work than the current small machine.
Thomas Young died Saturday at his Galesburg home after years of ill health. Graveside services led by Dr. Edward L. Gibson were held Monday at Henry city cemetery. He is survived by his wife and stepson Donald Powers of Galesburg.
Marshall County State Bank of Varna re-elected all officers and directors for another year at the annual meeting held Jan 12. Officers include A. R Wright chair, Olney M Hurl, Louis B. Phillips cashier, and Mrs. A. R. Wright and Mrs. Olney M. Hurl directors. Staff includes Joel L. Jenkins assistant cashier and Miss Lolg Hoppe bookkeeper. December 31 1951 deposits totaled 1 420 290 86 with reserves and undivided profits up.
Camp Grove State bank re-elected all officers and directors for 1952 at the annual meeting held Saturday evening January 19. Officers include William J. Gill president Thomas R. Murphy vice president John W. Hickey cashier Carter Shearer Willis Shearer directors. staff Dorothea Hartley Greg Owens assistant cashiers Marian McGinn bookkeeper. Deposits stood at 2,450,813.34 on December 31 1951, up about 58,500 from the year.
Farmers State Bank of McNabb reported a prosperous 1951 at its annual meeting on January 10. Deposits rose by 41 000 to 1 900 524 06. Officers and directors were re-elected. Benjamin Hoyle remains president, Walter Durley Boyle is vice president, Leon Clausen cashier, with Clarence J Stansell J B King Gus Naumann and Fred P Dose serving as directors. Staff include John A McKirgan teller and Clarence Shaw bookkeeper.
First National Bank of Lacon lists total deposits at 3,937,106.08 for 1951 with growth from prior year. Directors were reelected for another year and in turn reelected last year’s officers.

Names listed include Henry and candidates in Saratoga LaPrairie Lacon Richland Bell Plain Bennington Evans Roberts Hopewell with no Democratic filings in several precincts.
Eight Marshall County youths were inducted into the Army on Tuesday, per an official notice from the county Selective Service board. Names listed include Darrell Longman, Royal Winkler, Hens Faon Bernius, Mon Fugene Allard, Reutert James News, Gatthane Lede, Charles Haredd Berd, Donald Kimer Schaerer.
Mrs Claude Davis of Galesburg passed away Tuesday with funeral services planned at Timber and West Funeral Home in Galesburg. The announcement was received by family members including Mrs J J Hager.
