State Route 29 survey eyed widening from Sparland to Bureau Junction
State highway engineers from Peoria are surveying Route 29 near Sparland to widen and modernize the Ivy Way. The plan calls for expanding 16 to 22 feet, possible two lanes later, with river bridge work and resurfacing north of Sparland. Construction may begin in 1939 pending survey finish.

Harley Songer of Lacon died Friday morning. Funeral rites were held Sunday at 2 PM in the Lacon Cemetery mausoleum. He was born February 10, 1878, in Lacon and married twice.
