Postmaster Francis Lee Wright announced a new rule from the post office department mandating the lobby be locked at 6 p m on weekdays and at noon on Sundays. The change takes effect immediately and the postmaster will enforce it accordingly.

Specialists Urgently Needed As Volunteer Army Grows
T/Sgt. Stanley Fordyce, a local Peoria recruiter, says the Army will be all volunteer if enlistment trends continue through mid 1947. Since October 1945 about 160000 volunteers in the 12-state Midwest have joined, with a peak in October this year. In Peoria District fifty three recruits and reenlistees aged 17 to 34 signed January 2 to 14. National volunteer enlistments total 1,065,562 under the 1945 Armed Forces Recruitment Act. Ex GIs may reenlist within 20 days of discharge in noncommissioned grades matching their former specialty. Disabled veterans may reenlist to fill critical occupational needs.
