Putnam County firm William Downey & Son topped the Chicago cattle market at the Stock Yards with 24 head of finished Hereford steers selling for 40 per hundredweight. The cattle averaged 1216 pounds, delivering about 486 dollars per head and 11 dollars 64 cents for the shipment. Funeral services were held at Tonica Monday with burial in Tonica Cemetery for James Barton 83 a retired Tonica farmer who died Friday Jan 9 at his home. Mrs. Fannie Eberly of Lostant and her son Wade Eberly of Wenona attended the funeral in Kankakee for Oscar Frazier a former Lostant resident and husband of the late Docile Eberly Frazier.
