LaRose Bank Robber Edward Martin Sentenced
Edward Martin, 24, a bookkeeper at LaRose Bank, received a prison term of from one to 100 years for robbing the bank on September 29. He stole about $1717, fled after leaving the back door open, and was captured in Princeton the next day. He had served as Sunday school superintendent and was a former pitcher for the La Rose White Sox.

Circuit Court Convenes at Lacon Adjourning to January

Frank Reavy, brother-in-law of Harry Klein, died at St Marys hospital Galesburg after influenza since Christmas. He was an official of Sieg Iron Davenport and a director of the Galesburg bank. Funeral services for David L Anderson Sparland's oldest citizen who died Tuesday January 4 were held Thursday at 2 30 from M E Church. Rev Dusenberry officiated with selections by Mesdames George Frank and E L Olson. Interment in Sparland cemetery. Born Bellaire Maryland March 27 1828 he was 98 years 9 months 7 days. He married Phoebe Colman January 21 1851. They lived in Sparland 1858 1879 1882 onward. Survived by three daughters Miss Dalitha Mrs Barbara Tuckey Mrs Emma McClure two sons Truman and Frank and many grandchildren great grandchildren. He was predeceased by two sons Merritt and Emmett and daughter Mrs Mary Clifton.

Frances Towle Boyle dies after long illness at Hennepin
The mother of Landon F Boyle and Walter A Boyle died Monday January 10 at her daughter's home near Lostant. She was nearly 75, suffered rheumatism, and had been infirm for years. She was longtime organist for local churches and married Albert B Boyle in 1870 and Charles Towle in 1892. Survived by six children, eleven grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. Short services were held at the W Hillabrand home and M E church with burial in Riverside cemetery, Hennepin.

Vincent Dobrich of Sparland, a miner, fired at rival Chillicothe men last fall over a coal vein near his mine. He received a three month sentence at the state farm in Vandalia to reflect on his temper and on the luck of not killing anyone.
