Hamilton city council discussed revising the long standing practice of paying about half the cost of curb and guttering and water mains for new subdivisions. Officials warn current plans could lead to municipal bankruptcy if continued and propose reimbursable shares after project completion plus possible future special meetings.
The Henry City Committee led by Alderman Bert McBride outlines a coming year street construction and maintenance program. Perry Uls and Lawrence Newman assist as city engineers and foremen, with funding from motor fuel allotments based on local census counts. Planned projects include extending Front Street near St Marys Church with gravel surfacing and later paving under careful budget controls.
City officials and Rock Island railroad representatives meet at Henry city hall to discuss closing grade crossings and improving depot as Henry grows with Goodrich Chemical and a new fertilizer plant. A $200 traffic count aided Illinois Commerce Commission review. eight crossings exist, two with signals.
City treasurer Lewis Campbell reported December end balances across funds totaling 21,260.56 in sales tax and 8,000 in water investment. Water charges collected January 4 to 10 totaled 3,232.92, with 503 customers paying 2,536.90 for garbage fees. Delinquencies total 715.01 across residential, commercial, and tap accounts.
As of today Wednesday Dec 12 a total of 503 customers are paying for Henry's new municipal garbage and refuse service. Henry Disposal company operates the service under city contract with quarterly advance payment. Of 500 survey respondents 461 paid in advance. 39 unpaid were removed. 42 new customers joined, bringing paid patrons to 503.

Estimated total cost around 45000 dollars with state sharing up to eighty percent. Plans to be reviewed by the Illinois Commerce Commission after city council and attorney review.
The Henry Chamber of Commerce released a 12 page two color brochure to promote Henry as a good place to live and work. It highlights transportation education churches recreation clubs annual events and local attractions with photos of landmarks and new residences. The project runs over six months by the industrial development committee with support from Central Illinois Light and Davison Chemical Division.
A community action committee meeting is set for Friday January 14 at 10 o clock in the Farm Bureau building Henry Rev Wilbert W Marzahn of the Lacon Methodist church leads the initiative inviting about a hundred recipients from Marshall and Putnam counties The aim is to form a group to pursue federal funds under the Economic Opportunity Act to aid under privileged residents in the county Two counties Marshall and Putnam may form committees to promote humane values and plan community development projects locally
