Henry theatre announces the Paul Maddox company will perform January 17 and 18, featuring Yvonne in The Shawl Dance. The six member troupe will perform a 25 minute act with refined dance, visiting Decatur and Galesburg before returning to the Henry Theatre. Adult ticket price rises by 10 cents to 25 cents.

A large crowd gathered in Henry to attend Joseph T. Dauber's livestock and farm machinery sale. Buyers came from central Illinois as rain fell intermittently. Prices ranged fair to good with Dauber satisfied overall. A guessing contest for gross receipts awarded Oleh Ely $10 for a guess of 8075.00. J W Clement took second with 8096.00. At about 3 30 am a burglary at Woodfill's jewelry store failed when Police Officer Evan Sleater arrived after hearing breaking glass near A B Child Sons filling station and Watercott's. Shots were fired injuring no one, intruders fled after a car speeding away on School street was heard. Woodfill reported nothing stolen as the storm floor was pried but the door not accessed.

Preliminary Corn Hog Meetings Completed in Two Counties
Fourteen informational meetings held January 3 4 and 5 in Marshall and Putnam counties presented all available data on the corn hog reduction program. About 1300 farmers attended. Worksheets and contract copies were distributed and explained. Sign up meetings will follow once Washington DC supplied maps and evidence sheets. In several communities over 90 percent indicated readiness to sign up.

Eugene Snyder Dies of Pneumonia
Eugene Snyder 12 year old son of Mr and Mrs Ray Snyder of Henry county died at Henry hospital yesterday afternoon after several days illness. Pneumonia was the immediate cause of death. He had seemed to recover briefly but worsened until death. Funeral arrangements not yet completed but believed to be held Friday afternoon.

Mrs. Lenora Ellis and Mrs. Fannie Wheeler report the death of their sister Mrs. William Engels at her Kenniwick Washington home on December 26. She was 81 years 7 months and 27 days old. Born 1851 on Thierry homestead east of Magnolia she grew to womanhood in Henry. Survived by husband three daughters and one son all married near Kenniwick. Last east visit was in 1910 to Henry.

City Council Evening Session Sets Liquor Rules and Projects
The city council met at city hall Monday evening with Mayor Hans J A Otto presiding. An ordinance regulating liquor sales was approved, including Class A licenses at 250 and Class B and C at 190, plus Sunday closing and daily hours 6 am to 11 pm except Saturday to midnight. The measure also limits Class A licenses to one per 400 residents. The meeting covered two CWA projects: waterfront improvements and planting 400 to 500 trees, with 24 workers to start next Friday. The ferry operating costs were debated, and a test month was set to assess self-sufficiency. The treasurer reported funds suffice for about a month. enforcement of liquor ordinances will be tight. Ben Horracks Held After Farmyard Shooting
Ben Horracks former Henry resident was released on bond from Bureau County jail after a Sunday morning shooting at his Manlius area farm. Frank W. Shaffer of Chicago was wounded with a shotgun and hospitalized at Perry Memorial in Princeton. A warrant followed and Horracks surrendered on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon. Shaffer’s eye injury prognosis was reported but not confirmed.

Marshall County Hunters Kill Many Wolves in 1933
In 1933 Marshall county hunters killed twenty wolves amid rising raids on flocks. Several old fashioned hunts are underway as one hunter reportedly bagged a mother wolf and twelve cubs during the year.
