Walter Cook Found Dead in Duke Bros Basement Tragedy
Walter Cook a 33 year old Duke Bros employee was found dead in the factory basement Tuesday morning. Investigators say he died from a self inflicted gunshot wound to the right temple and a deep wrist wound from a razor. The inquest found no criminal action. Cook had been in a melancholy mood due to illness and his father Fred Cook’s fragile health. The Duke Bros hardware store closed Tuesday in his honor and funeral arrangements were set for Friday at 2 30 PM at his home with Rev W J Carpenter leading.

Fire damages Nick Morse home in near zero night
The residence of Mrs. Samuel Garland at 8 PM Sunday suffered a major fire likely starting between ceiling and second floor near a partition wall. Nick Morse and family narrowly escaped as firefighters contained the blaze, with about $300 in fire and water damage and insurance covering repairs. Neighbors aided, Morse credited for discovering the fire, and the family has since stayed with relatives.

Mother of Adam Staab Dies in Chillicothe
Mrs Elizabeth Staab of Chillicothe, mother of Adam Staab of this city, died at her home Tuesday evening after a several month illness. She was 90 and survived by four daughters and six sons. Funeral services are set for Friday at 9:30 a.m. at St Edwards Church in Chillicothe. A full obituary will appear next week.
