The Mallards face Wenona in the main game January 17 after a Junior Varsity contest at 6:30 p.m. A Homecoming dance with a still to be chosen king and queen wraps the weekend on January 18.

Post Office Lobby Opens Longer Hours in Henry
Postmaster Frank Stachewicz says the Henry Post Office front door will not be locked until evening starting January 7. The Henry Police will continue to lock the building as before. Lobby work remains, but patrons should not face much inconvenience.

Dive club flight to Cuba ends with Bahamas return
Six Peoria scuba divers and two pilots flew a Cessna 206 to Cuba by mistake before landing in Stella Maris Bahamas. The group, including Joan Umphress and Steve Umphress of Lacon, endured radio issues and fuel shortages, then reunited with the second plane and returned to Peoria.

Police Chief in Henry Suffers Car Vandalism
Henry Police Chief Glen Killen was the victim Sunday evening when someone poured acid or paint remover on his car in front of his home. The liquid ate the paint on the trunk and hood, with damage estimated at about $100. An investigation continues.
Dan Hoffman Benefit Rotary Pancake Day Details
The fourth annual Henry Rotary-Glub-Pancake Breakfast will be held January 26 at the Henry Grade School gym from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tickets are available from Rotary members. sausage and flapjacks will be served, with two pound sausage packages for take home. Proceeds fund the Dan Hoffman scholarship, supporting Dan, a first year medical student at the University of Illinois, who has a $1,000 annual Henry Rotary Club scholarship and recently received his second check. Donors include MP Oil Company, Henry State Bank, and others. Don Vandiver is general chairman with Rotarians listed by committee.

Mark Tawney, a 1958 OSU chemical engineer graduate and current Product Manager of the PVC plant at the BFG Henry plant, will transfer to the firm’s main office in Cleveland. He is married to Edwayna Rickey of Henry and they have three children, residing at 315 Williams Street.
