Farm Residence of Henry Bell Razed by Fire
The Henry Bell farm home two miles northwest of Henry was destroyed by fire Saturday evening between 8 and 9 o clock. The house and contents were a total loss, two Klein dogs died in the basement, and $40 in Harold Bell’s currency was lost. Residents sought shelter with neighbors as insurance covered the dwelling and locals contributed to aid.

Miss Jessie Emans Dies in Peoria After Illness
Miss Jessie Emans died Sunday at 5 p m in Proctor Hospital Peoria after a period of flu and pneumonia. Born near Magnolia November 22 1870 she taught rural schools and worked as a bookkeeper before moving to Washington then Henry Illinois. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Comerford Endsley Memorial Home Peoria with burial in Oak Lawn Cemetery Dwight. She is survived by brother Alonzo Emans of Ft Lauderdale Florida.

A mass meeting will be held next Tuesday night January 12 at 7 30 in the K of C hall Henry National building to discuss plans for organizing a new bank in Henry. Wayne Hummer a La Salle and Chicago banker will speak. Local and distant residents show keen interest and several have offered to buy stock to support an entirely new community bank.

Farm Bureau to Launch Membership Drive in January
More than 40 Marshall Putnam Farm Bureau workers met at the K of S Hall Henry to plan a January membership drive led by E V Stadel. L B Hornbeck urged expansion as Illinois Agricultural Association reports over 60 000 members. Marshall Putnam held 850 members in 1936 and aims for 925 with 50 new members this campaign. Several townships exceed 60 percent participation with Roberts leading at 85 percent and Senachwine Magnolia and La Prairie above 60 percent. Evans and Bennington also recognized for high enrollments with oyster stews.

Mrs Ransom Kelley died Tuesday evening at Princeton hospital after a stroke at noon. She is survived by her husband and four children Mildred Leland Clarence and Ronald and a brother in South Dakota.
