Bandits Fail in Minonk Bank Robbery Attempt
Two armed robbers tried to hold up the Minonk State Bank Monday morning but a tear gas trigger by Miss Lewis and a quick police response halted the robbery. Bandits Carlson and Ceri were captured near Eureka and held for a Woodford grand jury with bonds set at 20 000 each. investigators linked them to Peoria Bartonville and other Illinois bank crimes.

Five Henry Women In Accident South Of Minonk
A Henry car carrying Dr Carrie Weatherly, her mother, and her two daughters along with Mrs Hubbard and her two daughters overturned one and a half miles south of Minonk last Sunday evening. A passing car assisted and took them to Minonk for treatment. all sustained only minor injuries. The vehicle suffered broken side glass, bent fenders, and damaged steering and brakes.

Clara Haun of the Leaf Clover 4-H Club in Hennepin and a McNabb High School student is named one of two Illinois girls to attend the National 4-H Club Camp in Washington DC next summer. This honor crowns six years of club work and recognizes her as a top young leader. She is the fourth year clothing champion for Marshall and Putnam counties, on the state honor roll, and the state corn champion, having previously earned a free trip to the National Club Congress in Chicago.

Fire destroys barn at Whitefield Corners
A large barn owned by Dr. F. C. Willett at Whitefield Corners burned Monday evening. Firefighters, aided by a mist and snow, prevented spread to the nearby Odd Fellows hall. The blaze was first seen by Mr. and Mrs. Fred True. A Buick belonging to W. H. Maddox, Whitefield grocer, was moved from the barn before damage occurred.
