The board accepted a Central Illinois Light Company energy proposal delaying charges until 3000 kilowatt hours are used, about 9.25 dollars monthly thereafter, and discussed street light changes, treasury balances, and water pump issues as well as delinquents and tapping fees.

A break-in at Buffalo Inn tavern on East Park Row was discovered at 2 30 a m by Policeman Ralph Child during rounds. Entry was by smashing a door glass. liquor in cases and bottles was largely taken. Loss about 800 dollars including 85 dollars in cash. Sheriff Moe Berg investigated.

Fire guts Granville business district causing $50000 loss
A Thursday afternoon fire in Granville destroyed two businesses the Capitan hardware store and a Tupperware warehouse with an estimated $50000 in damage. Smoke and water damaged the Fassino supermarket and the General Telephone office. Firemen from ten departments battled the blaze for three hours, aided by nearby hydrants and a cistern.

Last Rites Monday For Robert Thornton
Services for Robert J. Thornton were held Tuesday at the Green Funeral Home conducted by Father Howard Brummett of St. John's Episcopal Church. He died Monday at a Peoria hospital after a long illness. Born December 5, 1877 in Lostant Illinois, son of John W. and Kate L. Thornton, he married Carrie Nicholson February 4 1993. Surviving is his son James. Burial followed at Henry City Cemetery with pallbearers Joseph Ash Robert Dewey William Duke Richard Finfgeld Charles Merdian and Ned Potter.
